COLOMBO : Former governor and leader of the. National Unity Alliance Azath Salley has strongly condemned the disgraceful and undignified remarks made by U.S. President Donald Trump in reference to the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.
” Such language is not only deeply offensive but also unbecoming of a head of state. It reflects a shocking lack of respect for sovereign nations and their leadership, particularly towards a country that holds immense religious and geopolitical significance in the Muslim world.
At a time when the Middle East is facing unprecedented instability and conflict, the world expects responsible leadership, diplomacy, and mutual respect—not arrogance, mockery, and humiliation. Statements of this nature only deepen divisions and undermine the very foundations of international relations.
This incident must serve as a wake-up call for all Muslim nations. No country should tolerate being spoken of in such a degrading manner, especially by those who claim to be allies. Respect in international relations must be mutual—not dictated by power or political convenience.
I call upon leaders across the Muslim world to take note of this blatant disrespect and to stand together in
safeguarding the dignity, sovereignty, and honour of their nations. Silence in the face of such insults only
encourages further disrespect.
The global community must demand higher standards of leadership, where dialogue replaces arrogance and
respect replaces ridicule.,”
