COLOMBO- As a result of the unprecedented floods in low-lying areas of the city of Colombo, the victims are being housed in various schools and temples in the capital.
Colombo Times visited the Kiththampahuwa Siddartha School in Wellampitiya, where the flood victims are accommodated and found 31 families found refuge in the school.
Social workers in the area busily engaged in feeding the victims as well as cooking the daily meals to other victims who are trapped in the neighbouring areas of Wellampitiya.
St. John’s Ambulance had disinfected the whole school so that the victims can stay safely without contracting infections.
The places are affected due to heavy flow of water due to rains in the nearest Kalu Ganga.
