Embassy of Sri Lanka in Hanoi Hosts Tourism Promotional Seminar to Boost Travel Cooperation with Vietnam

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Hanoi successfully hosted a tourism promotional seminar recently to strengthen tourism ties between Vietnam and Sri Lanka and to promote Sri Lanka as an exciting and diverse destination for Vietnamese travelers.

Held at the Ambassador’s Residence, the event brought together 20 leading travel agents and industry representatives for an engaging program, which included captivating promotional videos, insightful presentations, interactive Q&A discussions, and a tasting of authentic Sri Lankan cuisine.

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Vietnam Poshitha Perera, , opened the seminar with remarks highlighting Sri Lanka’s unique tourism potential, with a particular focus on its hidden gems and lesser-explored attractions. Vice President of Aitken Spence Travels Lalin Sumanasinghe, delivered a detailed presentation showcasing the variety of tourism experiences available in Sri Lanka.

Attendees were introduced to Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage, spectacular natural landscapes, and iconic landmarks through Vietnamese-subtitled video presentations. Highlights included the world-famous Esala Perahera in Kandy, scenic train journeys, sacred religious sites, pristine beaches, lush tea plantations, UNESCO World Heritage sites, adventure tourism opportunities, and the island’s celebrated cuisine.

With over 10 million Vietnamese citizens traveling abroad in 2024—mainly to ASEAN countries. Vietnam remains one of the fastest-growing outbound tourism markets. As Vietnam’s dynamic economy continues to expand with a population exceeding 100 million, Sri Lanka sees a great potential to attract both leisure and business travelers from Vietnam.
