Eid Message from Rauff Hakeem Leader, Sri Lanka Muslim Congress.

“ On this holy day of Eid-ul-Alha, let us celebrate with patience and perseverance for peace  and justice to prevail for all in Sri Lanka. We join the Muslims all over the world marking this year’s festival under challenging circumstances and trying conditions in their respective settings.

Amidst the various impediments and adversity that our community is facing today, including our inability to gather in mosques owing to the pandemic, we remain grateful to the Almighty

for enabling us to welcome yet another holy Eid-ul-Alha, for prayers and reflections and  deepening of our faith and spirituality.

In our celebrations, let us give the highest consideration for COVID-19 guidelines and regulations during gatherings at mosques and in public spaces. We are living at times where

dissenting voices are suppressed, labeled traitors to the nation and detained under false charges or none at all. We will keep them in our prayers in seeking justice for them.

Prophet Ibrahim’s and his son Prophet Ismail’s determination to submit to the supreme will of God is  celebrated today for their patience and perseverance. Let us reflect deeply upon this tradition of humility and submission, not only on this day, but on all days of our lives.

My best wishes in earnest and Eid Mubarak to you all.”
