COLOMBO

Eid-ul-Fitr Greetings
As Muslims in Sri Lanka celebrate the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, an entire month spent on fasting, prayer and charity, I have immense pleasure to extend my warmest greetings and sincere best wishes to all Muslims, both in Sri Lanka and overseas. The month of Ramadan served to reinforce the Islamic values of brotherhood and foster a sense of unity among all communities in the country.
The Eid-ul-Fitr festival transcends religious and cultural barriers, serving as a timely reminder of our humanity and shared aspirations. We should re-dedicate ourselves to these universal values of compassion, generosity and mutual respect, embracing the lessons learned during the holy month of Ramadan.
This year, as we celebrate Eid, let us also pause to reflect on the challenges we face in the current uncertain situation, both locally and globally.
To Muslims in Sri Lanka and around the world, I extend a message of friendship and goodwill in the true spirit of the Eid-ul-Fitr festival.
