ECHO provides scholarships to students who enter university from Negombo

COLOMBO : The Education Culture Helper Organization,(ECHO) in Negombo, has provided scholarships to students who were selected to the University from the Negombo area.

Principal of Al Hilal National College M.S.M. Zaheer presented the initial cheques to the beneficiaries of the Scholarship Fund.
Ten students from Al Hilal National School, Newstead Girls’ College, Kekkunogolla National School, Zahira College, Colombo and Kaleliya Arab College were selected from the Universities of South East, Jaffna, Uva Wellassa, Kelaniya, Colombo and Moratuwa in the Negombo area.
They were given at the rate of Rs 5,000 per month till the completion of university education. The leader said that the well-wishers of the town are helping in this.

Chief Guest President M.S.M. Zaheer said that a big change should be made in education in Negombo. The community must progress to a better position in all fields. A town with good-hearted people who are eager to give all opportunities to the community. Take advantage of this great opportunity created by the organization. There is a kind of panic among the community when it comes to university education. If we have the fear of God in our hearts, we do not need to be afraid to go to any university. Your children will become sages if you move towards education. Should always act as children who trust their parents. Said to have faith in spirituality.
Chairman of the “Echo” organization, MMM. Rilwan in his keynote address said it is a social responsibility to help students for further their higher education. This can reduce the social gap. Its our duty to make these students useful citizens to the society. Well-wishers of our town have come forward to help fund this scholarship. The number of male students going to university from our town is low. To address this we also plan to assist in motivating underprivileged GCE Advanced Level students. He also said that a program would be set up to help identify school drops.

On this occasion, Dr. M. M. F. Rimcina, Dr. N.S.M. Nasmir, Seylan International School Director MHZM Marzouk, Organization Treasurer Ilam Qasim, Dr. M.R.M. Naleem also addressed the gathering.
