COLOMBO – Remembering the Ester Sunday attack in Sri Lanka four years ago, Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, Archbishop of Colombo, repeated his call for justice for the victims of the 2019 Easter Bombings.
“Now the Easter Attacks. How many years? Four years. Still no justice. Still, no one knows what happened. All kinds of things are being said by people. It is important that we struggle for justice; for truth. That is Christianity,” the Cardinal said during Easter Midnight Mass in Colombo.
Some 272 people were killed and about 500 were injured and some were crippled for life in six bomb attacks on churches and hotels in Sri Lanka. The investigation has dragged on, with many suspecting that the truth is being covered up by authorities.
The cardinal said that his community members feel discontent and they demand for justice. He also said some 100 children were orphaned due to this attack and they are being looked after under a special program conducted by his community.
