KURUNEGALA : Dr. Shafi Shihabdeen who resumed duties on Tuesday as a Senior House Officer in Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital thanked all those who were with him during the past four years and six days during his period of compulsory leave.
Speaking in a video message, Dr. Shihabdeen said: ” ‘ Every Up has its down’ and this period of four years was a traumatic experience for no fault of mine’, and the prayers and good wishes from well-wishers, relatives and friends .kept my morale high to win the race.”
He recalled that the support was spontaneous and they really sympathised with me.
A decision of the Health Services Committee of the Public Services Commission, recently ordered the Health Ministry to reinstate him.
In a letter to the Health Secretary, the Secretary of the Health Services Committee stated that disciplinary actions against Dr. Shafi have been terminated. The decision was based on the findings of an Expert Committee, which investigated the allegations against him.
According to the committee’s report, the written and oral evidence did not endorse the allegations, leading to the termination of disciplinary actions.
