COLOMBO: Senior journalist Chamuditha Samarawickrama said that security has not yet been provided to him despite a Court Order being issued, following the attack on his residence in Piliyandala last Monday morning (14).

Speaking to the Daily News yesterday on Monday, Feb.21, Samarawickrama said that despite the Kesbewa Magistrate’s Court issuing an order directing the Victims Protection Division of the Police to provide sufficient security, no security had been provided to him so far.

Meanwhile, he said that no arrests had been made so far and the attackers who had hurled stones at his residence had not been identified yet. He also said that the motive for the attack was also not clear.

Samarawickrama said that he provided video footage of 22 CCTV cameras installed at his residence.

“Three Police teams had been deployed to conduct investigations into the attack on journalist Chamuditha Samarawickrama’s residence,” Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said.

Following the attack, statements were recorded from around 26 persons in connection with the incident and around 86 CCTV images containing the van and motorcycle the suspects are believed to have come in were examined and the police had identified their entry and exit.(CDN)
