Deputy PM, FM Bui Thanh Son presents appointment decision to Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Hoang Giang

WVR – On July 17, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son presented the decision to appoint Mr Dang Hoang Giang to continue holding the position of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son congratulated Mr Dang Hoang Giang on continuing to earn the trust of the Party, the State, and the Government in being entrusted with an important new responsibility. He affirmed that this is a well-deserved recognition of Mr. Giang’s consistent dedication as well as his outstanding contributions in multilateral diplomacy and international integration.
The Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated Mr Dang Hoang Giang’s role during his tenure as Ambassador and Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, especially during Vietnam’s term as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council (2020–2021).
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his confidence that in his new position, Mr Dang Hoang Giang will continue to promote his capabilities, experience, and dedication to effectively work with the leadership team of the Ministry in implementing the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification, and deep international integration for the benefit of the nation and the people. He emphasized the importance of continuing the diplomatic tradition of the resilient, flexible, yet steadfast “bamboo diplomacy” to meet the demands of the new era.
In his acceptance speech, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Hoang Giang expressed his honour in being trusted by the Party, the State, the Government, and the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with this important responsibility. He affirmed that this is not only a great honour but also a heavy responsibility in the context of rapidly evolving and complex global and regional situations.
Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Hoang Giang emphasized that in his new role, he will continue to inherit and promote the proud 80-year tradition of Vietnam’s diplomatic service, maintaining the unique identity of Vietnamese diplomacy – flexible yet consistent. He also pledged to work closely with the Ministry’s leadership team to effectively carry out foreign policy tasks, focusing on the three pillars: Party diplomacy, state diplomacy, and people-to-people diplomacy.
Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Hoang Giang expressed his desire to continue receiving support and close coordination from comrades and colleagues to build a Vietnamese diplomatic service that is professional, modern, courageous, and visionary, capable of meeting the requirements of the new development stage.
Mr Dang Hoang Giang was born in 1977 in Bac Ninh and holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam.
He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2000 and has worked at the Department of International Law and Treaties. He served two terms at the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations in New York, including as the main political coordinator at the UN Security Council.
Since 2010, he has successively held positions such as Assistant Director-General, Secretary to the Standing Deputy Minister, Secretary to the Minister, Deputy Chief of the Ministry Office, and later Chief of the Ministry Office. From 2019 to 2021, he served as Assistant to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
In March 2021, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; in February 2022, he became Ambassador and Head of the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations. During his term, he made many important contributions in enhancing Vietnam’s role and position at international forums.
