Delegation of German Parliamentarians visits German tech Moratuwa center

COLOMBO — A group of  German Parliamentarians visited German tech Moratuwa center recently to lend their fullest support for smooth function of the institute.

The Ceylon German Technical Training Institute was established in 1959 with the aid of German Government. Still German Government is providing its fullest support through GIZ Sri Lanka to the development of this institute. The delegation comprise Ms. Renate Künast (Chairperson of the Parliamentary Group), Paul Lehrieder, Ms. Ria Schröder, Dr. Malte Kaufmann, participated as members of this parliamentary group.

His Excellency German Ambassador to Sri Lanka  and  Maldives Dr. Felix Neumann, Olaf Malchow (German Deputy Ambassador)  Tobias Stolz (Deputy Country Director GIZ Sri Lanka and Maldives) and Fabio Germano ( Project Manager- Vocational Training in Sri Lanka Project) are also participated to observe the training delivery mechanism of the CGTTI.

The Chairman  Suranga Mendis mentioned that, this visit of German Parliamentarians was in line with supporting government policy framework in developing the TVET sector of the country. He expressed that this visit would give more advantages in obtaining assistance for expansion of the institute and opening foreign employment and training opportunities in Germany for its current and future students. According to Mendis, members in this parliamentary group had more interest in supporting to build collaborations between German Tech and similar institutions in Germany.

Further  Mendis stated that those collaborations and opening job and training opportunities in Germany will give more advantage to the country as a strategy to get modern technology and work methods for the development of industrial sector in the country.

He expressed that basically, this would support country’s future path in obtaining states of a developed nation.
