HEIYANTHUDUWA, — Under the inspiring theme “A Child Guided by Dhamma Wisdom: A Peaceful and Moral Tomorrow,” the Pali and Sanskrit Cultural Exchange Centre successfully hosted the inaugural ceremony of the “Damsak Daruwo” program today at its center premises in Heiyanthuduwa. The initiative operates under the broader umbrella of the Dhamma Bridge Project.
A pivotal highlight of the event was the launch of the center’s inaugural publication of the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta. The center aims to turn this into a island-wide spiritual mission by presenting copies of this sacred text to 100,000 children (“Damsak Daruwo”) across Sri Lanka.
As the world’s pioneer institution dedicated to bridging the Pali and Sanskrit traditions of Buddhist culture, the center introduced the DamsakDaruwo initiative to simplify and bring the Buddha’s first sermon closer to the younger generation.
Dignitaries and Keynote Addresses
The ceremony was marked by the distinguished presence of His Excellency Shri Maitrey Kulkarni, Deputy High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, whose participation underscored the enduring and practical facets of Sri Lanka–India friendship. Other prominent attendees included Hon. Ashoka SapumalRanwala MP (Gampaha District), along with the Officers-in-Charge of the Biyagama and Sapugaskanda Police Stations.
