‘Dammika Paniya’ NOT suitable for Covid-19 treatment

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Indigenous Medicine on Wednesday (05) announced that the ‘Dammika Paniya’ or the so-called Anti-COVID-19′ potion/tonic is NOT suitable to treat COVID-19 patients.

“This committee of experts in a report revealed that clinical test have proven that the Dammika Paniya is NOT suitable as a treatment for COVID-19,” it added.

In early December 2020, news emerged about a tonic called ‘Dhammika Paniya’ that had the “power ” to “prevent and heal” the disease. Initially promoted as an Ayurvedic medicine, its inventor later attributed its strength to the goddess Kali.

Dr. Dhammika Bandara, the so-called ayurvedic practitioner from Hettimulla, Kegalle claimed to have found an ayurvedic concoction which he claimed can cure COVID-19 patients.
