D.S.Senanayake College Celebrates 45th Annual Islamic Day “Symphony’25”

COLOMBO !The Islamic Majlis of D.S.Senanayake College, Colombo, Times marked a significant milestone with the successful hosting of its 45th Annual Islamic Day, titled “Symphony’25,” on Saturday, April 4, at the UCFM Towers Auditorium. The event was a vibrant celebration of faith, culture, and student excellence, bringing together distinguished guests, educators, students, and well-wishers.

The occasion was graced by Chief Guest Feroze Kamardeen and Guest of Honour Shaheer Rasooldeen, both distinguished Old Boys of the college and past members of the Islamic Majlis, whose presence added great pride and inspiration to the event.

The Principal of D.S.Senanayake College, pSampath Weragoda, was also in attendance. The keynote address was delivered by Ash-Sheikh Muiz Bukhari, whose insightful speech emphasized the importance of unity, knowledge, and upholding strong moral and spiritual values.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Principals, Assistant Principals, Sectional Heads, teachers, past and present members of the Islamic Majlis, Old Boys, students, representatives from invited schools, as well as parents and well-wishers, making it a truly grand and inclusive gathering.

A key highlight of the event was the felicitation of winners of the Intra-School and Inter-School competitions organized by the Islamic Majlis. These competitions provided a platform for students to showcase their talents while fostering a spirit of healthy competition and Islamic values. Hameed Al Husseinie college and Fathima Muslim Ladies College emerged Winner and Runner-up at the inter school competition.

The audience was also treated to a series of engaging entertainment items, including soulful Nasheed performances and vibrant Islamic traditional dances, reflecting the richness of Islamic culture and heritage.

In addition, special recognition was accorded to the top academic achievers of the college, appreciating their dedication and commitment to excellence. The event also honoured past teachers, acknowledging their invaluable contributions and lasting impact on the growth of the institution.

“Symphony’25” stood as a testament to the enduring legacy of the Islamic Majlis of D.S.Senanayake College, continuing its mission of nurturing spiritual growth, academic excellence, and cultural appreciation. The event concluded on a memorable note, leaving a lasting impression on all those present while reinforcing the values of unity, gratitude, and excellence.

The programme was compered by Umair Fahim, while the master in charge Arafath Aadam and
President of the Islamic Majlis Naveed Rizan played an active role for success of the event.
