Cuba updates its list of persons involved in terrorist acts

HAVANA Cuba updated its list of persons involved in terrorist acts as announced by experts during a press conference on Wednesday.

Colonel Victor Alvarez, from the Interior Ministry’s Investigation Division; deputy foreign minister Josefina Vidal; Head prosecutor with the Attorney General’s Office Edward Roberts; and the director of Foreign Relations at the Justice Ministry Alexis Batista talk to reporters at Havana’s International Press Center about the update of the list, which had originally been published on the country’s Official Gazette of December 7, 2023.

The update includes new persons linked to terrorism acts; he stressed growing concerns here about cyber-terrorism and the use of social media to incite violence, and despite the denunciations repeatedly made to the US administration, there is no yet a reply, the Colonel noted.

He said that the list published under resolution 13th of 2025 and signed by the Chief of the Interior Ministry’s General Division for Criminal Investigation, includes 62 individuals and 20 terrorist entities. The results of investigations carried out by the Cuban Interior Ministry contributed enough information involving persons based in different countries, particularly in the United States.

Meanwhile, head prosecutor Roberts said that Cuba updates its list of people involved in terrorist acts in tune with international conventions and Resolution 1373 of the UN Security Council, which aims at fighting violence and terrorism; Cuba, as a victim of violent acts, is obliged to respond to these threats, both to protect its people and to safeguard its patrimony and state property, he noted.

Deputy Foreign Minister Josefina Vidal said that on July 9th, Cuba handed over the list to the UN Secretary General and reiterated Cuba’s willingness to cooperate with the struggle against terrorism.
