COLOMBO — Zahira College Writers Forum launched 20 books in English and Sinhala languages on Saturday January 18 at the Zahira College Abdul Ghaffoor Hall. It was held under the patronage of Principal of Zahira College Trizviiy Marikar.
Teacher in Charge of the Writer’s Forum Fathima Shazna delivered the welcome address.
The chief guest at the ceremony Writer and Senior Journalist Asiff Hussein said in his speech that it is important to read books and he congratulated the students of Zahira College for launching the books. He also said Zahira College students are lucky because College Management guides and helps the students to develop their writing skills..
Principal Trizviiy Marikar also addressed the gathering outlining the aims and aspirations of the college and also appreciated the hard work of the teachers to help students author their own books. Also he requested students to write more books in whatever languages Sinhala, Tamil or English and congratulated the writers.
Amra Nuzrath and College Staff W. Dhananjika Deepani reviewed the books in English and Sinhala languages.
Chief Guest Asiff Hussein pinned the badges on incoming board members of the writer’s forum and the Authors of books received the certificates.
Principal Trizviiy Marikar presented a token of appreciation to Asiff Hussein on behalf of the College.
Deputy Principal Mohamed Shazuli, Vice Principal Co-Curricular Activities Zeenath Ismail, Vice Principal Tamil Medium A. M. Mihilar, Head of Primary Hasna Iflal, Sectional Head Shinaz Badurdeen, Teachers, Parents, Students and invitee’s school students were present.
