
COLOMBO — The Colombo Grand Mosque donated over Rs. 2 million in cash and in kind towards the relief to the flood victims in Kolonnawa and Wellampitiya on Friday December 12 at the Grand mosque premises.
The event was held at the under the patronage of Chairman of the Colombo Grand Mosque Thahir Razeen,
This relief aid, consisting of Rs. 1.5 million in cash assistance and Rs. 500,000 worth of dry rations and other essential items, will be distributed to Wellampitiya, Kolonnawa and neighbouring areas.
The cash cheque and essential items were handed over by Deputy Minister of Religious and Cultural Affairs Muneer Mulaffer to the President of the Pettah Masjid Federation, Ash Sheikh Moulavi L.M. Lameer Hafil, for distribution among the affected people in the area.
Deputy Director of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs M. S. Ala Ahamed, Deputy Ministers Private Secretary Abdul Rahim, Coordinating Secretary L.I.A.M. Shajahan, Pettah Masjid Federation Secretary A.H.M. Nazar, Treasurer M.S.M. Hisham, Trustees of the Grand Mosque, Officials of the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs and Members of the Masjid Federation were also present.
