COLOMBO : The Prime Minister’s Office has denied media reports claiming that a decision has been made to increase the salaries of public sector employees.
The Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has not made any such decision, a statement from his office saiud on Friday,May 27
The Prime Minister’s Office clarified that the upcoming interim budget will provide relief while reducing allocations to all Ministries, except for Health and Education.
The clarification comes following several media reports including a state media newspaper reports that said the salaries of public servants will be increased with immediate effect by the relief-oriented Budget to be presented by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
