COLOMBO : The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Monday, June 8 , informed the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court that a group of politically affiliated individuals, including Udaya Gammanpila, Wimal Weerawansa, and Dilith Jayaweera, are allegedly engaged in a planned effort, indirectly interfering with and obstructing ongoing investigations into the Easter Sunday attacks.
The CID made this submission to Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena while informing the court, through a motion, that steps had been taken to admit former State Intelligence Service Chief Suresh SallEy, who is currently under detention orders, to the Colombo National Hospital.
At that point, CID investigating officers told court that the suspect, Suresh SallEy, has been acting in a manner that is detrimental to the investigation, and that these obstructive actions are being supported by politically affiliated individuals including Udaya Gammanpila, Wimal Weerawansa, and Dilith Jayaweera.
The CID further informed the court that there is reasonable suspicion that this plan is being carried out with the intention of preventing the exposure of previously undisclosed political links connected to the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks. News First
