Chef cooked to death in a Jaffna hotel

JAFFNA : In a horrific incident,a hotel chef lost his life after falling into a hot curry cauldron during the preparation of meals

The hotel chef who fell into a boiling cauldron and died in a hotel in the northern province.

The  41-year-old cook was cooking Salmon curry,when he got an epileptic attack while at work.

Rasiah Theepankumar who was suffering from epilepsy had died after he suffered a seizure and fell into the boiling pot filled with the salmon curry.

The incident had taken place at a hotel in Point Pedro, Jaffna on Thursday where Theepankumar was working as a cook.

He had died while undergoing treatment at the Manthei Hospital, Point Pedro.

Hospital sources said biological samples taken from the deceased have been sent for a PCR test to determine whether the deceased was also suffering from COVID-19.

“The post mortem examination will be delayed until the results of the PCR test is received,” hospital sources said.
