RUZAIK FAROOK
COLOMBO : The University of the West of England (UWE Bristol) is proud to mark a significant milestone this year: the 20th anniversary of its transnational education (TNE) partnerships. As the seventh largest TNE program provider in the United Kingdom, UWE has established a strong global presence, collaborating with educational institutions across continents.
UWE Bristol’s extensive network includes partnerships in countries such as China, Malaysia, Vietnam, Oman, the Maldives, Hong Kong, Latvia, and Sri Lanka. These collaborations are designed to provide students with access to high-quality education and internationally recognized degrees without the need to travel to the UK.
In Sri Lanka, UWE has formed TNE partnerships with prominent institutions, including the City School of Architecture, Bristol Institute of Business Management, and the British Institute of Engineering and Technology. Through these alliances, UWE offers specialized programs in architecture, engineering, and business, enabling local students to benefit from the university’s academic expertise and resources.
To celebrate this milestone, Professor Amanda Coffey, the Deputy Vice Chancellor and Provost of UWE Bristol, along with Haaziq Jaleel, the Country Manager for Sri Lanka, recently visited these three institutes. Their visit was an opportunity to appreciate the hard work of staff members and the strength of the partnerships formed over the years. The celebration included a cake-cutting ceremony attended by faculty from the partner institutes, symbolizing the shared commitment to education and collaboration.
The 20th anniversary event not only reflected on the achievements of UWE’s TNE programs but also set the stage for future growth in international education. UWE Bristol remains dedicated to fostering educational partnerships that bridge cultural and geographical divides, ensuring that students receive a world-class educational experience. This significant anniversary highlights UWE’s accomplishments over the past two decades and reinforces its position as a leader in global higher education.
