COLOMBO : A new luxury tourist bus service named ‘Bustaurant’, equipped with all the facilities of a high-end hotel, was officially launched yesterday (15), providing domestic and international visitors with a modern and fully equipped travel experience.
The initiative, the first of its kind in Sri Lanka, was implemented by the Central Province Department of Tourism with the participation of the Dambulla Municipal Council and the Pradeshiya Sabha, based on a proposal from a private entrepreneur.
The launch event in Dambulla town was presided over by Central Province Governor Professor S. Abhayakoon and Deputy Minister of Buddhist Affairs and Religious Affairs, G. Dissanayake, along with Matale District MP Sunil Biyanwala.
The luxury bus, designed and constructed by a local entrepreneur in the Palwehera area of Dambulla, operates under the approval of the Central Province Department of Tourism. It is equipped with all the facilities of a high-end hotel, ensuring comfort and convenience for travellers.
According to the department, the bus service covers key tourist destinations including Dambulla, Inamaluwa, Kibissa, Sigiriya, Palwehera and Pidurangala, travelling along rural routes and historical sites while providing food and beverages onboard. The service is designed to offer a unique and engaging tourist experience, combining sightseeing with comfort and convenience.
The department said this initiative aims to enhance regional tourism, offering visitors a modern and enjoyable way to explore the cultural and historical landmarks of the Central Province. daily mirror
