RIYADH- Today I stepped into Sri Lanka Stores in Riyadh to buy a few things. MALDIVE FISH was one of those items. When I picked a packet the word Maldive struck me hard and for a minute or two I was looking at it. The shopkeeper seeing me looking at it hard said ‘This is a new arrival it has a good long time to reach expiry, sir!’ I smiled at him and told him ‘It is not the expiry date I am worried about but when Sri Lankan Muslims expire that is where they take a free ride to rest!’ Thank God they are lucky to be buried in a Muslim country with Islamic rites. Inna lillahi wainna ilaihi rajioon!’ When your country of birth wants to burn you into ashes, when your soul leaves your body, isn’t this a blessing from almighty Allah?
