COLOMBO : A peaceful protest against the tragic loss of life and widespread destruction in Palestine was held in front of the World Buddhist Federation – Sri Lanka center at Bauddhaloka Mawatha Tuesday afternoon Oct.31.

The event was organized under the patronage of Dr. Sudath Dewapura, the President of the World Fellowship of Buddhists – Sri Lanka.

Religious dignitaries from various faiths, representatives of Muslim umbrella organizations, and distinguished individuals, including Mohammed Rasooldeen, Chief Editor of Colombo Times, and Ash-Shaikh Arkam Nooramith, General Secretary of All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama, along with people from all walks of life, came together to express their solidarity with the Palestinians during this time of untold sorrow and despair.
All the speakers at the event passionately voiced a common message: an immediate ceasefire in Gaza is crucial to halt the bloodshed and protect unarmed civilians and children from Israel’s indiscriminate aerial bombardments.

The participants chanted the slogan “Free Palestine,” which reverberated throughout the demonstration, in support of the Palestinian people.
