COLOMBO : Investigations into the bribery case filed against former State Minister Shasheendra Rajapaksa and other suspects have been completed, the Bribery Commission informed the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today.
The announcement was made when the case was taken up before court.
Shasheendra Rajapaksa, who is currently out on bail, appeared before the Magistrate along with the other suspects.
Officials of the Bribery Commission notified the court that the investigation into the incident had been concluded and that the relevant investigation files had been forwarded to the Bribery Commission for further action.
They also requested that a date be fixed to report the progress of the matter.
After considering the submissions, the Magistrate ordered the case to be called again on July 10.
The complaint was filed by the Bribery Commission against three individuals, including former State Minister Shasheendra Rajapaksa, over allegations that following the destruction of property during the recent Aragalaya period, pressure had been exerted on officials of the Reparations Office to obtain compensation amounting to Rs. 8,850,000.
