ASHRAFF A SAMAD
COLOMBO- A 568-page book titled : “ Personalities in our history” authored by Zakiya Sideeque Fareed, a school teacher was launched in the midst of a distinguished crowd in Colombo on Saturday, August 20, 2022.
The launching ceremony was held under the chairmanship N M Ameen while former minister and leader of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress Rauf Hakeem was the chief guest.
The maiden copy of the colourful publication was handed over to Muslim Salahudeen, chairman of Mushan International by the author. The others who were present included Parliamentarian Mujibur Rahman, former Western Province Governor National Unity Alliance leader Azath Salley,former MP Shafeek Rajabdeen and YWMA President Fawaza Thaha.
The author, who is the mother of Fawzan Fareed, Sri Lankan Airlines Manager in Maldives said that her dream was fulfilled today when she released the book which depicts biography of the prominent personalities who had contributed towards the development of the Muslim community.
Zakiya Fareed has been a teacher for more than three decades in Colombo Zahira College and DS Senanayake College and subsequently, she has worked as an editor in Nawamani newspaper.
