Bilateral Meeting Between President of Indonesia and President of Sri Lanka

in the Margin of the 10th World Water Forum in Bali

The President of Indonesia, H.E. Joko Widodo (Jokowi), held a bilateral meeting with the President of Sri Lanka, H.E. Ranil Wickremesinghe, on the sidelines of the 10th World Water Forum Summit (WWF) on May 20 2024 in Bali, Indonesia.

The President of Indonesia was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Retno L.P. Marsudi; the Minister of State Secretary, Dr Pratikno; the Minister of Investment/Head of Investment Board, Mr. Bahlil Lahadalia; the Ambassador of Indonesia to Sri Lanka, H.E. Dewi Gustina Tobing; and the Director of Central and South Asia Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Jatmiko H. Prasetyo.

The President of Sri Lanka was accompanied by the Minister of Water Supply and Estate Infrastructure Development, Hon. Jeevan Thondaman; Senior Advisor to the President on Climate Change, Mr. Ruwan Wijewardene; Foreign Secretary, H.E. Mrs. Aruni Wijewardane; Sri Lankan Ambassador to Indonesia, H.E. Admiral Professor Jayanath Colombage; and Senior Advisor to the President on Economic Affairs, Dr. R.H.S. Samaratunga.

During the meeting, both Presidents discussed many issues that mutually beneficial for both sides. They also discussed on the need to further strengthen the bilateral relation and consider the need to conclude the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) between Indonesia and Sri Lanka by the first quarter of next year. The said PTA will be an important tool to strengthen the cooperation in economic and trade relations between the two countries.
