Bathiudeen’s housemaid case: Ishalini’s body exhumed on Friday for forensic tests

COLOMBO : The remains of the 16 year-old domestic worker who died while working as a domestic aide at MP Rishad Bathiudeen’s residence has was exhumed on Friday morning,July 30. The body was taken to the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital for a second post-mortem same day.

Nuwara Eliya Magistrate Lushaka Kumari Dharmakeerthi on Thursday July 29 to  exhume the remains of 16-year-old Jude Kumar Ishalini on Friday,July 30 and to be moved to the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital under armed guards for further forensic examination .

The exhumation which commenced at 08:30 AM on Friday in accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines.

The 03-member Panel of Experts was appointed on Wednesday (28) to conduct tha second postmortem.

The Panel of Experts was nominated by the Director-General of Health Services and on the recommendation of the Attorney General. The members of the three-member Expert Panel include : Professor Jean Perera – Professor of Forensic Medicine at the Medical Faculty of the University of Colombo, Senior Lecturer Dr. Sameera Gunwardena – Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology at the Medical Faculty of the University of Colombo  and Dr. Prabhath Senasinghe – Consultant Judicial Medical Officer at the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital
