COLOMBO – The Clubs and Societies of Zahira College Colombo organised their Awards Night at the College Ghaffoor Hall on Saturday, September 19 under the patronage of Principal Trizviiy Marikkar
Chief Executive Officer of SLT-Mobitel Riyaaz Rasheed was the Chief Guest, while former Director Engineer of the President’s Media Division and Consultant at Derana Media Network, Stanley Hettiarachchi, was the Guest of Honour.
Head of Co-Curricular Activities Shihnaz Badurdeen delivered the welcome address.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Trizviiy Marikkar said that this was the first time in the history of the College that an Awards Night had been organised to recognise the achievements of its clubs and societies. He commended the students for their accomplishments and thanked the teachers, parents, and students for their dedication and hard work in making the event a success.
Certificates and awards were presented to various clubs and societies, including the Best President, Best Secretary, Best Editor, Best Master-in-Charge (MIC), Scout Leaders and Scout Akelas.
The ceremony also featured performances by students. Members of the Shakespeare Drama Club staged an extract from Julius Caesar, while students of the Art Club presented a song. Students of the Islamic Society presented a Sundic Art performance.
Board of Governors Secretary Nuzri Munsoor also addressed the gathering.
Principal Marikkar presented tokens of appreciation to Chief Guest Riyaaz Rasheed and Guest of Honour Stanley Hettiarachchi on behalf of Zahira College Colombo.
OBA President Hazik Jaleel, Members of the Board og Governors, Vice Principals, Sectional Heads, teachers, parents, students and Old Boys of the College were among those who graced the occasion.
