TOKYO : The congregation of the Ashikaga Masjid (Mosque) in Japan made a financial donation to assist Sri Lankan communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah.
The donation was delivered by a group of mosque members led by the Chairman, I.L.M. Nasir visited the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Tokyo and met with Ambassador Prof. Pivithuru Janak Kumarasinghe to formalize the contribution.
The funds, which were collected from members of the mosque community, were transferred to the official government disaster relief account.
The contribution is specifically designated for humanitarian relief and recovery efforts following the severe damage caused by Cyclone Ditwah in late 2025.
This act was part of a broader wave of support from the Japanese community, including contributions from organizations like the Sri Lanka Business Council of Japan (SLBCJ) and private companies such as LG Holding Japan.
