COLOMBO & NEGOMBO- As the travel restriction was lifted on Monday,June 21,morning, people flocked to city of Colombo to do their work.
All shops, banks and establishment were opened for the convenience of the public. Coaches from the Pettah bus stand left with limited passengers.
Towns in Vavuniya and Mannar witnessed lesser crowd compared to Kandy, Galle and Ratnepura, Kinniya, Batticaloa and Trincomalee
Negombo town became a hive of activities. Because of the heavy rush of incoming people to the town social distance advocated by the government was hardly observed.
The islandwide restriction will be re-enforced at 10 pm on Wednesday,June 23. Authorities have advised people about the ban on inter provincial travel and have banned all public gatherings.
According to latest health guidelines issued, social distancing must be maintained at all times as well as the practice of proper hygiene such as washing hands and wearing a face mask properly.
Further, only TWO persons from one family will be permitted to leave the house while the travel restrictions are lifted.
