COLOMBO: The Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence, Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith has called for the immediate resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and has requested his Government to step down
“The biggest obstacle to liberating this country from this sad situation is the fact that the Rajapaksa family continues to stay in power in spite of a majority of the people in this country not reposing any trust in them anyway,” he said in a statement.
Meanwhile, addressing the media on Tuesday, July 5, the Archbishop called for the immediate resignation of the Rajapaksas holding office.
“They have no moral right to continue in office anymore under these circumstances and should hand over power back to the people without causing further sufferings to them,” he said
