Angry crowd blocks the Gunasinghapura Road for want of gas

COLOMBO- Residents of the Gunasinghapura in Pettah protested by blocking the traffic in the main road in the area since they were disappointed with the government’s promise to supply them gas on Friday,May 13

One of the protestors told Colombo Time that the entire crowd is so desperate to resort to this action that they do not have cooking gas at home for their daily requireents.

The angry crowd returned home when an army officer told the mob that they would get their gas supply on Wednesday,May 17.

As a result, motorists who could not travel in the area were greatly inconvenienced.

Last Thursday, the banana plantation police said they would provide gas to the people of the plantation, but the mothers could not get gas. Those who had been waiting in long queues for the day were given tokens and were disappointed as they had been waiting for the last three days. Due to this, people got angry and put their gas cylinders across the main road in Gunasingapura and engaged in a protest today. Due to this the traffic in the area was affected for a long time.
