COLOMBO – The Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited (ANCL) marked the 94th anniversary of its Thinakaran newspaper at the ANCL premises on Monday, March 30.
The celebration was held under the patronage of Thinakaran Chief Editor T. Senthilvelavar. Several distinguished figures attended the event, including ANCL Chairman and Managing Director Gamini Warushamana, Director Editorial Sisira Yapa, Chief Editor of Daily News Kesara Abeywardena, Chief Editor of Dinamina Pradeep Dharmasri Dassanayake, Chief Editor of Silumina Udeni Saman Kumara, and Chief Editor of Sunday Observer Pramod de Silva, along with members of the ANCL staff.
During the ceremony, former Thinakaran Chief Editor and senior journalist Anandi Balasingham and ANCL Beruwela correspondent M. B. M. Mukhtar were felicitated in recognition of their long-standing contributions to the newspaper. They were presented with mementoes and draped in golden shawls as a mark of appreciation.
The event also featured a ceremonial cake-cutting to commemorate the 94th anniversary of Thinakaran.
