COLOMBO — A felicitation ceremony was held at the Namel Malani Punchi Theatre in Borella, Colombo recently to celebrate former Ananda Balika dance teacher Ms. Gayani Balasuriya’s 55th birthday, organized by the Ananda Balika Vidyalaya Old Girls Low Country Dance Organization.
The event was graced by the presence of Aesthetic Arts University Professor Lionel Bentharage as the chief guest, alongside Ananda Balika Vidyalaya Principal Mrs. Ganga Kumuduni, Vishaka Vidyalaya Principal Mrs. Manomi Seneviratne, Mrs. Malkanti Nandasiri, and music expert Mrs. Anuradha Nandasiri.
Family members, relatives, friends, and contemporary teachers of Gayani Balasuriya also attended as guests. The ceremony marked a special gesture from former students and others who expressed their love and respect for Gayani Balasuriya through their participation and contributions.
This celebration stands as a valuable example of the profound impact teachers have on their student’s lives, showcasing their devotion to both their subjects and guiding principles. Additionally, Ms. Chamika Manojini Perera, Announcer and Program Director of Lakhada Radio, was involved in making announcements during the event. The organizing committee extends its gratitude to all who supported and contributed to the success of this significant occasion.
Principal Ananda Balika Vidyalaya Mrs. Ganga Kumuduni presented a memento to the Ms. Gayani Balasuriya and Old Girls of the Ananda Balika Vidyalaya performed dance at this ceremony.
