COLOMBO – The An-Noor Solar Panel Project, a major initiative aimed at reducing the electricity expenditure of Darussalaam College, was officially handed over to the college on Wednesday September 9 at College premises.
The project was initiated following a request by the Principal of Darussalaam College, Ahamed Nibras, to explore sustainable solutions to reduce the college’s rising electricity costs. The project was successfully driven under the leadership of O. M. Fiyas, Secretary of the Darussalaam College Past Pupils’ Association (PPA), with the active involvement and commitment of the entire PPA Executive Committee.
Valued at approximately Rs. 1.5 million the solar panel project represents a significant investment in the future sustainability of the college. It is expected to contribute towards reducing the institution’s electricity expenses while promoting the use of renewable energy.
The Chief Guest at the official handover ceremony was *Dr. Razeen Anver, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Maligawatte Jumma Mosque, A. H. M. Iqbal, Secretary of the Board of Trustees of Maligawatte Jumma Mosque was also present as a special invitee.
The success of this project was made possible through the collective efforts of the PPA, the college administration, and the generous support of numerous well-wishers and dedicated individuals who worked quietly behind the scenes. Their valuable contributions, encouragement and commitment played an important role in bringing this ambitious project to completion.
The An-Noor Solar Panel Project stands as another example of the commitment of the Darussalaam College community towards creating a sustainable and brighter future for the institution and its students.
