COLOMBO: The All Ceylon Young Men’s Muslim Association (YMMA) Conference holds its 76th year annual “Meelad-un-Nabi” celebration to commemorate the birth of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) at the Dr. A.M.A. Azeez Auditorium at the YMMA Headquarters, Colombo, on Wednesday, August 26.
The event was held under the patronage of National President M.R.M. Ziyadh and members of the Executive Committee of the All Ceylon YMMA Conference.
Delivering the keynote address, Ash-Sheikh Mufti M.Z.M. Mustafa Raza (Al-Alim, Al-Faadil) said that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was a mercy to all mankind and emphasised that every person should show compassion and mercy towards others.
He called for greater unity within the Muslim community, observing that there is a lack of compassion and understanding among people today. He further stressed that elders should show kindness and compassion towards the younger generation, while youngsters should respect their elders.
YMMA Conference Patron and Chairman of the International Affairs Committee Al-Haj Fawzan Anver, past presidents and members of the Board of Trustees of the YMMA Conference, Ulamas, and other distinguished invitees were also present on the occasion.
