All Ceylon Tamil Journalists’ Association Formed With Thinakaran Chief Editor; Senthilvelavar as its President

COLOMBO : As the first initiative to establish a distinctive organization for Tamil-speaking journalists and regional journalists working in print, electronic, online, and registered social media in Sri Lanka, a special meeting was held yesterday (16th) at 10 AM at the Colombo Tamil Sangam. During this event, the All Ceylon Tamil Journalists’ Association was officially launched.
During the meeting, elections were held for the new association’s administrative positions. Accordingly, Mr. T. Senthilvelavar, the Chief Editor of Thinakaran newspaper, was elected as the President of the association.
Mr. R. Sivarajah, the Chief Editor of Tamizhan newspaper, was elected as the Secretary, and Mrs. Varuni (Junior Tamizhan newspaper) was elected as the Treasurer.
Additionally, Mr. Thillaiyambalam Dharanidharan (Independent Journalist) and Ms. Kalavarsini Kanagaratnam (Independent Journalist) were elected as Vice Presidents.
Ms. Maheswari Vijayanandan (Independent Journalist) and Mr. Nirshan Ramanujam (Independent Journalist) were elected as Assistant Secretaries, while Mr. Parthiban (Independent Journalist) was elected as the Assistant Treasurer. Furthermore, regional coordinators for various areas were also selected.
A tribute was paid to the late senior journalist Rajanayagam Bharathi, along with other journalists who have passed away.
A High Committee was also established to oversee the association’s operations and provide guidance.
