COLOMBO — Akil Masoon, an ardent sports fan from Zahira College Colombo, began as a dedicated follower and supporter of sports at his school. Inspired by this passion, he founded his own sports media organization called Knockout. Over the past eight months, Akil has provided commentary for more than 23 school football games, including the country’s premier U20 and U18 Schools Football Tournaments and the prestigious Oxford
President’s Trophy 2024.
His talents extend beyond school sports. Akil contributed commentary for the FIFA
World Cup Qualifier match between Sri Lanka and Yemen last October at Racecourse Stadium. He also served as a commentator for the FIFA Series 2024 in Sri Lanka, which featured teams from the Central African Republic, Bhutan, Papua New Guinea, and Sri
Lanka. Akil received widespread acclaim from the football community for his heartfelt
Commentary during M. Fazal’s farewell game, a moment only a true sports lover could capture.
In addition to his contributions to sports media, Akil has excelled in his corporate career, working for two leading telecommunication companies for over a decade. He currently serves as a Digital Media Lead for a prominent recruitment company in Colombo.
