COLOMBO : On their return from Saudi Arabia , a group of nine Lankan journalists met the Saudi ambassador khalid Hamoud AlKhahtani at his office in Colombo on Thursday,
The team led by Colombo Times chief editor Mohammed Rasooldeen thanked the envoy for arranging such an interesting and informative tour to the Kingdom.
Appreciating the gesture , the envoy thanked the members of the team for their feelings of gratitude. The ambassador said he is keen to establish people to people contact between the two countries . The diplomat recalled that recently nine MOUs have been signed. between the countries to strengthen the bilateral relations . Some 50,000 Saudi tourists have visited the island in a recent count , the envoy said ,adding this could be improved with enhanced promotions .
The envoy also said that he intends to bring down a group of Journalists from Saudi Arabia who could promote Sri Lanka as a destination . He said he is coordinating with Sri La ho nkan ambassador in Riyadh Ameer Ajwad in this respect .pix by MS SALEEM
