COLOMBO – Türkiye ambassador Semih Lutfu pointed out the world has witnessed a tragedy in Gaza. For the sake of humanity , Israel should end its aggression in Gaza immediately and withdraw its troops from occupied territories, and comply with international law.
The new envoy was addressing the delegates at the 74th Annual Convention of the All-Ceylon YMMA Conference held on Saturday June 29 at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute, Independence Square, Colombo.
Speaking further he said : “ We should display a strong reaction against Israel’s ongoing massacres and take measures against them .We have a shared moral obligation to support de-escalation efforts, reduce risks and increase stability, and pave the way towards peace and prosperity.”
“ In these efforts, non-governmental organizations could play important disseminating information, creating pressures and pioneering human campaigns.,” he concluded
National President of the YMMA Conference Ihsaan A. Hameed delivered the welcome address.
Ambassador of Turkiye Semih Lutfu Turgut was the chief guest and guest of honour Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission Chairman Justice Lt. B. Dehideniya addressed the gathering and National General Secretary Asif Shukry presented 74th Annual Report.
The convention honored Justice A.W.A Salam and City Gardens Chief Executive Officer Hilru Siddeeque with the ‘ Y ‘ Personality of the Year award. Salam was not present at the event.
Annual Member YMMA received awards in recognition of their performance for the year 2022/2023 by the guests.
National President of the YMMA Conference Ihsaan A. Hameed presented memento to the chief guest Ambassador of Turkiye Semih Lutfu Turgut and guest of honour Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission Chairman Justice Lt. B. Dehideniya at this ceremony.
Also awarded in appreciation for Excellent and dedicated services rendered during the year 2023/2024 to YMMA Sub Committee Chairman and Media Coordinator, International Affairs Mohamed Cassim Rasoolden , Assistant National General Secretary Farhaz Farook delivered the vote of thanks.
