GCOLOMBO – Minister of Public Administration Professor Chandana Abeyratne says more than 120,000 people will be recruited to fill vacancies in the public service this year.
The Minister stated that 30,000 of those appointments will be for the teaching service.
He said the evaluation of results from the competitive examination for teacher recruitment is underway.
According to the Minister, teacher vacancies will be filled without delay once the examination results are released.
He further noted that there are currently around 350,000 vacancies across the public service.
Appointments for more than 120,000 positions are expected to be completed before the end of this year.
