MOHAMMED RASOOLDEEN
COLOMBO- Professor Abdul Haleem Sheriffdeen, 84, popular surgeon in the island, who was admitted to the Infectious Diseases Hospital,IDH, in Kolannawa for Covid treatment on Tuesday morning, is pronounced to be out of danger, according to the hospital medical team.
A family member of the professor told Colombo Times on Tuesday night that it is sad to note that a vicious rumour has been circulating in the city about his health condition, which is completely baseless and untrue.
“ He is safe and sound in a special ward at the IDH, where he is being looked after well by doctors who were groomed by the professor ,” the family member said.
On Monday, Sheriffdeen was admitted to Nawaloka Hospital in Colombo, where he was tested positive for the Covid virus and subsequently, he was transferred to the IDH on Tuesday.
The first kidney transplant in Sri Lanka was successfully performed by Deshabandhu Sheriffdeen.
I I don’t unrest and why the close family membter said that he is sad that vicious rumor spread across the country on Prof. Sheriffdeen’s health condition.
Does he even think for a moment the numerous duas made to invoke blessings of Allah to save him from the corona fear. I myself made sincere duas at this morning’s Thahajjath. How many would have prayed for his speedy recovery. Please utter words carefully and learn to have gratitude. The wild spread of his contacting with covid was a blessing to this good human being who had been a wonderful medical officer rare to find these day. May Allah give him back to all those who still seek his treatment. Ameen
Get the Facts right, its not that what they meant. “He is out of Danger following Covid Attack” they didnt say he didnt get covid.
it is something else.
In my opinion we should not circulate news on social media regarding popular members of the community when they are sick. Leave it to close family or the news.

Very true 👍🙏😍
All praise to God! Rare doctor indeed! May he live a long and healthy life full of service to his fellow countrymen.Sri Lanka needs professionals of his calibre…. Our heartfelt prayers are with him.
In my opinion the vicious word used instead of ‘died’ might have been the reason dint come from the bottom of heart
to the mouth, the emotion n the deep love he or she has towards him.
Like u, v all have asked duas n still asking
for his complete recovery with the blessings of merciful Allah.
People circulated a message saying, he passed away. The person who commented
Vicious instead of died means that word was suppressed due to the love towards him.
